FCAC's Past, Present and Future Campaigns

With the help of our partners, FCAC is improving Canadian consumers’ awareness and understanding of mortgages, loans, budgeting, fraud and their rights and responsibilities when it comes to banking and finance.

New Credit Card Rules

New regulations that apply to credit cards and loans offered by federally regulated financial institutions are now in effect. The regulations enhance consumer’s access to clear information about key details of these financial products, such as interest rates, fees and penalty charges. They also strengthen consumers’ rights by limiting certain business practices of financial institutions.

Today, all consumers need to know how to protect themselves against fraud. This campaign shows the different types of fraud that can threaten consumers, how to identify fraud, consumers' financial rights and responsibilities and concrete steps to prevent and protect against fraud.

Access to Basic Banking: Your Rights and Responsibilities

Did you know you can cash a Government of Canada cheque up to $1,500.00 at any federally regulated financial institution in Canada for free, even if you don't have an account there? Did you know you have specific rights and responsibilities when dealing with a federally regulated financial institution? This campaign explains financial consumers' rights and responsibilities and financial institutions' obligations towards their clients.
