Internal Audit Report on Corporate Planning Framework

Management Response

In relation to the three areas of FCAC's Corporate Framework identified as potentially benefiting from further strengthening, we intend to undertake the following activities:

  • Streamlining and refining the Business Plan structure

The 2009-11 business plan has been streamlined to better demonstrate the alignment between all the elements of FCAC's Program Activity Architecture, including strategic outcomes, expected results, key performance indicators by program activity and program sub-activity. The business plan also includes the strategic priorities and related key activities and their contribution to the program activities. In addition, key expenditures and investments are presented by strategic priority.

During our 2009-10 mid-year review, scheduled in October 2009, we will assess the new structure and further enhance its content and presentation, as appropriate.

  • Aligning plan expected results indicators with performance reporting

The streamlined 2009-11 business plan includes key expected results, key performance indicators and deliverables/targets related to FCAC's program activities and program sub-activities. This structure will allow for an enhanced performance reporting as the latter will be aligned with the key elements of the business plan.

To further enhance performance reporting, FCAC will complete the development and updates to its Management Resources and Results Structure and Results-based Management Accountability Framework by September 30, 2009, prior to the 2009-10 mid-year review.

  • Developing an overview guide on planning

The Agency will develop by September 30, 2009 a corporate planning overview guide in order to consolidate the documented procedures, processes and work tools. We will also include new elements (e.g.: roles and responsibilities and governance structure related to corporate planning), as appropriate.
